My Story

We like to hear from our patients on their thoughts and experience with Comprehensive Orthopaedics. Below are some personal stories regarding their story and recovery.

“Dr. Paret got me started in business!!!  I’ll tell you how...

In Feb of '06 my family got a 3yr. golden retriever dog that was accustomed to being walked on a leash. I have a fenced in yard so I was trying to get him to enjoy going outside by himself.

One early morning Reeses needed to go out, I opened the door for him to go outside but he was so accustomed to being on a leash he would not go out unless I went first. I stepped out on to the stairs and next thing I know I was laying on the steps and couldn't get up. I crawled into the kitchen and called for my husband to come help me (he was in bed sleeping) it was 4:30 in the morning! Our darling dog had left a toy on the stairs. He had been with us 10 days.

I knew I had hurt my right ankle but I didn't know how badly. I went to the emergency room at Midstate where they sent me to Comprehensive Orthopedic to have a cast put on; I have never broken any bones before in my life and at age 36 and a mother of 3 little boys here I am with a broken right ankle...now what??

Dr. Paret was really great. He took such good care of me. He told me I was grounded for six weeks! No driving. That was fun!!  So...what do you do for 6 weeks where you can't do anything but sit? It was very frustrating at first, I couldn't bring my kids to school, laundry or even go to the grocery store by myself I had to have help with it all. But I got to bond with my new dog Reeses, for sure!   Reeses sat with me while I began surfing the net...I spend a lot of time on the computer when the kids were at school and my husband was at work.

I had always been interested in cooking, baking, and one day, I found a culinary school, and became interested.  I filled out the information about the school and they contacted me.  I decided when I could get around again I was going to go to culinary school and that is what I did.  Because of this experience I wouldn't be where I am today which is the owner of The Good Stuff Bakery!!  I love the business and my customers, so...come and see me, and how well I now walk!

My ankle feels great I don't have any problems with it thank goodness, since I stand on it all day. Thanks to Comprehensive Orthopedics and Dr. Paret for taking such good care of me.

Do go and visit Karen’s shop and tell her we sent you! thegoodstuffbakery@sbcglobal.net
